Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to inform you that late last night we were made aware that a student in Year 13 had tested positive for Covid-19. The individual concerned has been self-isolating and will obviously continue to do so to ensure the risk of transmission is as low as possible.
Following the latest guidance from the Department for Education and Public Health England (PHE), we are pleased to confirm that we will remain open. Due to the precautions we have taken as a school, we are able to continue as usual with our school routines. I would like to emphasise that we would not take this decision if we were not fully reassured by the advice from PHE, but they have been clear that our precautions have mitigated the risk of transmission.
We have carried out a rapid risk assessment to confirm who has been in close contact with the student who has tested positive, and in line with Government guidance, these people will be advised to self-isolate for 14 days. However, all other students and staff will be able to continue with their schooling as usual.
I would like to reassure you that the safety of our students and staff continues to be our utmost priority, and we would not be taking this action if we had not been reassured by experts that it is the best means of proceeding. It is vitally important that students remain in school wherever possible to ensure they receive the quality of education they deserve.
As ever, if you have any questions at all, please do contact the PA to the Principal, Miss Walendziewski, [email protected]
With kind regards,
Alison Brannick
