In addition to your academic studies, Landau Forte College Derby offers a wealth of opportunities to become involved in a wide range of enrichment activities. You could develop your leadership and team-working skills, demonstrate your sense of commitment and generally build on your confidence. All of these are skills that are much in demand by employers and universities.
You may wish to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, or help coach a team of younger students. Within the sphere of Performing Arts, there are many opportunities; in previous years students have been involved in exciting projects culminating with a performance at The Royal Opera House. Alternatively, you may wish to take part in competitive debating, and the College enters teams for the English Speaking Union and Debating Matters competitions.
Sixth Form students also have the opportunity to participate in recreational sport on Wednesday afternoons.
Many of our students extend their curricular interests, through schemes such as Young Enterprise or the Engineering Education Scheme. For our most able, there is the opportunity to add a challenging dimension to your pathway and develop your skills as an independent learner completing the Extended Project Qualification.
Our strength as a College centres on our sense of community and Sixth Form students help to strengthen our relationships. You may wish to train for our Peer Mentoring programme or to support younger students in their learning, either through in-class support or in our vertical tutor groups.
